Myanmar National Airlines is the national flag carrier of Myanmar and has the most extensive route network within our country. Our airline has been in existence for over 65 years and we are one of the oldest and most experienced airlines in Asia.

Major change is underway

As we launched our new domestic service in 2014 with fixed schedules, state of the art Reservations and Airport Systems, a brand new Premium Economy on our Embraer 190 aircraft and upgraded food and inflight service throughout our fleet.

We start flying International again after a break of many years providing regional jet services to neighbouring countries. This will allow Myanmar people to stretch their wings alongside us and for us to welcome many more visitors to our country.

We welcomed our brand new Boeing 737-800 aircraft into our fleet. This has allowed us to expand our international network and offer an even better experience for our customers.

MNA is going places and we would like you to come along with us.

Heritage

From UBA to MNA

Myanmar National Airlines was originally born in 1948 as UBA – Union of Burma Airways, making us one of the most historic airlines in Asia. We flew to 19 domestic points served with De Havilland Dove aircraft. All of these destinations are still in our schedule today making us the most experienced airline flying the Myanmar skies.

In 1950 international services were first introduced with flights between Rangoon and Bangkok, Calcutta and Chittagong.

In 1989 our airline was renamed Myanmar Airways with a new image and logo, while retaining our iconic UB two letter airline code. We added further international destinations including Singapore, Kathmandu followed by Bangkok, Calcutta, Dhaka, Hong Kong and Jakarta up to 1993.

After a period in isolation, along with much of Myanmar’s industry, the airline has now been reborn as Myanmar National Airlines and launched its upgraded domestic service in December 2014.

This included brand new products and services on the ground and in the air, a new-look Travel Centre in our Head Office on Kanna Road, Yangon. We are proud of our new airline management and reservation system, enhanced website and modern, yet traditional, uniforms.

Operational Excellence

At MNA we know you rely upon us to deliver excellent operational performance. To achieve this we focus on three key areas:

  • Safety
  • Security
  • Punctuality

Delivering the high standards of Safety and Security are our highest priorities and the cornerstones of our service. This instills confidence in our customers and pride in our staff. Our Flight Crew and Ground Teams have the highest standards of training, delivered by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), plus extensive experience and knowledge of our country.

Punctuality is also crucial ensuring that you can rely on our schedule and make any connecting flights you may have.

To further improve operational performance, we are in the process of applying for IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and look forward to obtaining the internationally recognized certification.
